The Sigma Alpha Sigma fraternity was originally founded as a Jewish engineering fraternity. The Alpha Chapter was established at the University of Minnesota, and according to its constitution dated April 13, 1939, was open to students registered in the Institute of Technology or majoring in technical sciences who were of Jewish origin.
